Bye Bye night nappies!

When I sleep, that is it; I am DEEP asleep, so it has always been a tricky decision to take off the night nappy. Everytime mummy asked, I strongly opposed.

However last week, on the 24th of June, terrible discovery: the nappies are finished...well, that is what I have been told. How to know for sure? So here I am, ready to go to bed and no nappy, only the potty next to my bed. I am a little stressed out I must say, but I have not choice so, let's try! I woke in a wet bed; it is not nice.

Next evening the same, no nappies, potty next to my bed, waking up in a wet bed, yuk!

Next evening...still no nappies...unbelievable...I am not happy...I have no choice. Somehow , the next morning I vaguely remember someone coming in my room in the middle of the night and waking me up to sit me on the potty. I woke up in a dry bed! Nice.

So since then, no nappies and dry bed!

Who needs nappies? They are for babies and I am a big girl now! Nappies are for my sister. Cant wait for her to show her face. She is taking a long time isn't she?

Quand je dors, je dors. Ça a donc toujours été difficile d'essayer d’arrêter les couches la nuit. A chaque fois que maman m'en parlais, je disais non!

Cependant, la semaine dernière, le 24 juin, terrible découverte: il n'y a plus de couches...du moins c'est ce qu'on m'a dit. Comment en être sure? Donc me voici prête à aller me coucher et pas de couche, seulement un petit pot au pied de mon lit. Ça me stresse un peu je dois vous avouer, mais j'ai pas le choix, donc essayons! Je me suis réveillée dans un lit tout mouillé; c'est pas cool.

La nuit suivante, même histoire. Pas de couche, petit pot au pied du lit, réveil dans un lit tout mouillé, pouah!

La nuit suivante...il n'y a toujours pas de couche, c'est incroyable...je suis triste...mais j'ai pas le choix. J'ai un vague souvenir le lendemain matin que quelqu'un soit venu dans ma chambre au milieu de la nuit pour me réveiller et m'assoir sur le pot. Réveil dans un lit sec! Génial!

Qui a besoin de couches? C'est pour les bébés et je suis une grande fille maintenant. C'est pour ma sœur les couches. Je suis trop impatiente de voir sa petite frimousse. Elle se fait bien attendre.

A weekend with Mamie & Papi in Veere

A couple of months ago we decided to organise a little weekend with mamie & papi; my last time with all them all for myself before my sister arrives.
The idea: beach and hopefully sun.
So here we are, The Zeeland, Veere, hot & sunny. Getting tanned!

Il y a quelques mois de cela, nous avons décidé d'organiser un petit weekend avec mamie & papi; la dernière fois que je les aurais tous pour moi toute seule avant que ma sœur ne pointe le bout de son petit nez.
L’idée: plage et soleil.
Nous y voici: Zeeland, Veere, soleil & chaleur. Vive la bronzette.

After a difficult wake up,
Après un réveil difficile,

We drag ourselves to the train - 2.5 hours of travel before we meet with mamie & papi at the 'obscure' station of Middleburg...we were at the right one. Papi's gps, (not being a TomTom), did not direct him exactly to the right place. Zeeland is still not very well documented on the maps ( a little like Britanny); but no problem, we eventually found each other and made our way to the Bed & Brood, in small and cute Veere. The village looks like a movie set and the B&B was....wow....super nice! I had my own big bed and all.

Nous nous trainons jusqu'au train - 2.5h de voyage avant de retrouver les grands-parents à la gare 'obscure' de Middleburg...nous étions au bon endroit. Par contre le GPS de papi (n’étant pas un TomTom) ne l'a pas super bien dirigé. Et oui, Zeeland, c'est un peu comme la Bretagne, pas super bien documenté comme région. Tout est finalement rentré dans l'ordre et nous voici à Beb & Brood dans le village de Veere. Il ressemble à un set de film ce petit village, et notre B&B...wow...super chouette. Rénové avec gout! J'avais mon lit à moi toute seule et tout et tout.

Drop the bags and, chop, chop to the beach for a nice picnic, wine (juice for mummy & I) and games.
On laisse les sacs, et hop hop, à la plage pour pique-nique vin (jus pour les filles) et jeux.

it is time for mamie & papi to finally get on bicycles - They have been coming to The Netherlands for 2 years and never built up the courage to do so.
Shower, super duper breakfast, bicycle fit (yes, french are rather small so we had to find the right sizes; tricky but we succeeded) and here we go, direction Domburg via the scenic road. It is only 15km away on a flat road (please do not forget to multiply this by 2). Mamie, after the first few chaotic minutes did very well, I sat behind with papa, and papi started to complain about his sore bottom fairly quickly. haha! Thank God there was a bar with cold beers at the end!
Papa managed to get a flat tire on the way back and ended up coming home by car - Papi strongly suspects this was a trick.

Et maintenant, tout le monde sur les vélos. Ça fait 2 ans que mamie et papi viennent aux Pays-Bas et ils n'en ont encore jamais fait.
Douche, petit déjeuner de champions, 'essayage' de bicyclette (et oui, les français sont bien plus petits que les Hollandais et c'est pas facile de trouver vélo à sa taille) et nous voici en route pour Domburg via la route pittoresque. C'est à 15km seulement et en plus c'est plat (ne pas oublier de multiplier par 2). Mamie était plutôt à l'aise après quelques premières minutes chaotiques, moi j’étais tranquille assise derrière papa, par contre papi a eu mal aux fesses très rapidement; le pauvre. Heureusement qu'il y avait un bar au bout du chemin avec de la bière bien fraiche.
Papa s'est débrouillé pour avoir un pneu à plat au retour et est finalement rentré en voiture. Papi suspecte que ce ne soit la une astuce pour ne pas avoir à se taper les 15 km de retour.

After such a fantastic weekend, back to Amsterdam. Mamie & papi joined and this time they slept in my bedroom for a night before heading back to Britanny.

Apres un super weekend, retour à Amsterdam. Mamie & papi ont dormi dans ma chambre cette fois ci (pour une nuit) avant de repartir pour la Bretagne.

Easter Bunny, new creche, Queens' day

Hi everyone!

I am back! And so much to tell you since last time we spoke. As you already know, a new baby is coming in August and we now know it is going to be a girl! I am ssOOoooo excited!
She did kick me with her feet the other day though, when I had my head resting on mama's belly, So I hit back; we just had our first fight. Mummy says she is going to be a little 'trouble' just like me. It is gonna be fun!

Mummy's birthday came by too (end of March). I think she is two, but don't take my word for it, I could be wrong.

New creche. Well, yes, this is the biggest change. Why did I change? Well, I am apparently going to school at the end of the year and my parents want me to be with people my own age rather than with a mix of babies an a couple of kids my age. I should be 'prepared' for the action.
How did it go? Extremely well, to the surprise of everyone. I was in my element as from day 1 (well, day 2 to be truly honest with you). It helps that my friend Hannah is at the new creche. We know each other for a little over a year and our mummies like to meet during weekends. We play and they talk over coffee.

I learned mummy has another name: Carine. I asked her if I was Carine too? Because right now I want everything like mummy; she puts lipstick, I want lipstick, she wears a dress, I want to wear a dress, she is called Carine, I am a Carine too. But she says no, I am Liv. ??? She is a girl, I am a girl right? So, in my logic, if she is Carine, I am Carine too. I think we need to discuss this further, it is too unclear.

April = Easter = Chocolate! Eggs, bunnies, hens...bring it on! Nothing like a hunt to open my appetite.

Putting words together. Well, it took time but I am now making full sentences. Dutch is coming along pretty well. French is a little more difficult but I am getting there. if I go to Mamie & Papi for the summer holidays, it will be no problem. Papi, I will handle your vegetables garden, ok?!

Queen's day was yesterday. We had a great time shopping around for clothes for my sister. We did many stops at friends stalls for drinks. Good company, great weather, music everywhere, daddy getting happily drunk under the sun, I did not make a fuss, in short, it was a great day. No photos though, forgot the camera at home.
we decided with my friend Hannah that next year we will have our own stand at Vondelpark. Our mummies will give us all the baby clothes to sell! And they will be behind drinking champagne on the grass.

Je suis de retour! et j'ai un tas de trucs à vous raconter; ça fait une paille que je n'ai rien écrit.
Comme vous le savez, on va avoir un bébé en août, et ce sera une fille! Je vais avoir une sœur, je suis super contente!!! Par contre elle m'a donné un coup de pied l'autre jour, alors que j'avais la tête posée sur le ventre de maman. J'ai répliqué toute suite en lui donnant une tape; notre première bataille. Maman pense qu'elle va être une petite boule de nerfs, tout comme moi. Ça promet!

Nous avons célébré l'anniversaire de maman (fin mars). Je crois qu'elle a deux ans mais je ne suis pas sure; à confirmer.

Nouvelle crèche. Oui, c'est le grand changement d'Avril. Pourquoi? Et bien, apparemment je commence "l'école" à la fin de l'année et mes parents veulent que je sois avec des enfants de mon âge et non avec un mélange de bébés et juste 1 ou 2 enfants de mon âge. Il faut que je soit prête!
Comment ça c'est passé? Et bien extrêmement bien, à la grande surprise de tous. J'étais dans mon élément des le premier jour (enfin le deuxième, pour être vraiment honnête avec vous). Ça aide que ma copine Hannah soit la aussi. On se connaît depuis un peu plus de 1 an et nos mamans se rencontrent souvent les weekends. On joue et elles discutent autour d'un café.

Je viens d'apprendre que maman a un autre nom: Carine. Je lui ai donc demandé si j'étais aussi Carine? En ce moment, je veux tout comme maman; elle met du rouge à lèvre, je met du rouge à lèvre. Elle met une robe, je met une robe. Elle s'appelle Carine, je m'appelle Carine. Mais la, elle a dit "non", je suis Liv. ???? Elle est une fille, je suis une fille, non? Donc en toute logique, si elle est Carine, je suis aussi Carine. Il va falloir qu'on m'explique car la ce n'est pas clair du tout.

Avril = Pâques = Chocolat! Œufs, lapins, poules...amener les tous! Rien de tel qu'une chasse au lapin de pâques pour m'ouvrir l'appétit!

Faire de "vraies" phrases! Bon ça m'a pris du temps mais ça y est, j'y arrive. En néerlandais j'assure, pour le Français c'est un peu plus délicat, mais j'y suis presque. Si je passe les étés chez mamie & papi ça devrait être bon! Papi, je m'occupe de ton potager, d'acc?!

Hier nous avons célébré "Queens day" (l'anniversaire de la reine). C'était top! Super bonnes affaires aux puces, pleins d'arrêts aux stands des copains pour boire des verres, temps génial, plein de copains, de la musique partout, papa légèrement pompette sous le soleil, moi adorable comme un cœur, bref, c'était une super journée! Pas de photos par contre, nous avons oublié l'appareil à la maison.
Avec ma copine Hannah, c'est décidé, l'année prochaine on aura notre stand à Vondelpark. Nos mamans vont nous donner tous les vêtements de bébé à vendre, histoire de faire de la place! Et elles seront derrière à boire le champagne sur le gazon.

It was a hard day. First I walked into a stroller at the creche and then I felt again the side of the table at home and scratched my skin. Do you like my boxer look?

J'ai un tas de choses à vous raconter. Par contre ça va devoir attendre encore un peu, je suis vannée. Je voulais quand même partager cette image avec vous.

Aujourd'hui fut une dure journée. Pour commencer j'ai foncé sans regarder dans une des grandes poussettes en bois à la crèche, puis à la maison, ce soir, je suis tombée sur le coin de la table, menton égratigné. C'est pas drôle.

After a Sunday walk in the city, the three, oups, no, the four of us, are on our way to our favorite place for a drink in Staalstraat; and there is this guy on his mini boat "The Nottendop" playing great tunes. Check this guy out! he is great: www.musicboat.nl. Well, if you do not speak Dutch you wont understand much, however there are cool pics and videos.

Après une marche dominicale dans la ville, nous voici tous les trois, oups, non, tous les quatre en route vers notre bar préféré dans staalstraat; et la il y cet homme dans sa barque de toutes les couleurs, le "Notendop" qui joue de la musique super sympa. Vous pouvez le voir sur: www.musicboat.nl, il est génial. Bon si vous parlez pas le Hollandais, vous comprendrez rien, mais il y a des photos et des videos sympa à voir.

Vincent Van Gogh

The discovery of Vincent Van Gogh museum and of Vincent Van Gogh paintings was mind-blowing. I was ecstatic and so was mummy. She said she had no idea the colors were so vivid; everyone knows his paintings but until you see them for real you have not seem them.
Since Mummy has her museum-pass we have decided to visit a museum per weekend. Well, we only go for 1h max, after that I am ready to do something else.
Mummy loves the pass simply because we get VIP entry. See the waiting line (and it is ALWAYS like this)? We just get straight in. It is cool.
Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has around 200 paintings of Van Gogh, and here the few that got my attention. We will have to go back to see the rest. Picasso is also exhibited temporarily but I was not impressed...the hour must had gone by then and I couldn't be bothered anymore.
I got quite inspired by all these beautiful paintings and decided to reproduce a couple myself.

La découverte du Musée Van Gogh et des tableaux de Vincent Van Gogh fut une expérience époustouflante. J'en suis extatique et maman aussi. Elle n'avait aucune idée de l'intensité des couleurs des ses toiles; tout le monde connait ses peintures mais tant qu'on ne les a pas vu pour de vrai, on n'a rien vu.
Depuis que maman a son pass pour tous les musées d'Amsterdam on s'en fait un par weekend. Bon, on n'y va pour une heure maximum; après je n'ai plus la concentration.
Maman adore son pass pour une raison super simple, on rentre façon VIP. Vous voyez la file d'attente ( qui est d'ailleurs TOUJOURS aussi longue)? Nous rentrons direct, sans attente. C'est génial!
Van Gogh Museum à Amsterdam a environ 200 tableaux de Van Gogh, et ci-dessous sont ceux qui m'ont marqué. Il faudra que j'y retourne pour voir le reste. Picasso fait parti de l'expo temporaire, nous y sommes allées mais je n'étais pas trop emballée...ca faisait bien une heure que nous étions la, je commençais à m'ennuyer. A revoir.
J'ai été tellement inspirée par ces superbes œuvres d'art que j'en ai reproduit quelques unes ce matin.

Upgraded to "real" scissors

It is raining non-stop. Cant go out, cant bicycle, so what is left to do?
Colored paper, "real" scissors (I am getting the hang of it), glue (all over the table and my clothes) and I happy :-) Dont disturb me, I am cutting.

C'est le vrai crachin Breton. On ne peut pas sortir, pas de vélo, que reste-t-il donc à faire?

Du papier de couleur, des "vrais" ciseaux (j'arrive à couper de mieux en mieux), de la colle (partout sur la table et mes vêtements) et je suis heureuse :-) Ne me dérangez pas, je coupe.

Opa's 2nd Birthday

06th February is Opa's birthday. Birthdays are very exciting. Getting presents, baking cakes, blowing candles, eating cakes, we sing and dance...
Opa turned 2 this year. I do no understand why papa put 5 candles on the cake; a clear sign he is useless with numbers.
I am gonna try to teach him to count to 10. 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,10...easy.
Opa spent the weekend with us and it was really cool, no only we had cake, but we went out for drinks and we even went to the museum. My first :-)

Happy Birthday Opa! Hip Hip Houra!

06 février: l'anniversaire de Opa. C'est génial les anniversaires. On fait des cadeaux, on fait des gâteaux, on souffle les bougies, on mange les gâteaux, on chante et on danse...
Opa vient d'avoir 2 ans. Je ne sais pas pourquoi papa a mis 5 bougies sur le gâteau; c'est évident qu'il a du mal avec les chiffres.
Je vais tenter de lui apprendre à compter jusqu'à 10. 1,2,3,5,7,8,10...facile non?
Opa a passé le week-end avec nous et c'était vraiment génial. Non seulement nous avons mangé le gâteau, mais nous sommes aussi allez boire des verres, nous sommes même allés au musée. Mon premier :-)

You might remember (or not) I did mention in my last post mummy got a bit screwed with all the nice food in France. So let me tell you what is really happening here. She did not get sick. Even she could have been, there was oysters :-) and she loves oysters.
No, mummy has a baby in her belly. Cool uh?! It is a baby for Liv. I had asked for it for Christmas and somehow Santa got a bit confused with the dates. Mummy's says the baby needs to get ready and he/she will come in August.
Girl or Boy? Well, depending on the time of the day i would like a brother or a sister. I was told I could not choose and it will be a surprise.
Mummy says it is papa & mama's baby...apparently papa is involved somehow? I strongly disagree. "This is baby for Liv".

Vous souvenez vous, dans mon dernier article je vous parlais de maman qui c'était faite avoir à Noël avec toutes les bonnes choses à manger? Je vais vous raconter ce qui ce passe. Elle n'était pas malade. Bien que ça aurait pu arriver avec les huîtres :-) Elle adore les huîtres. C'est pas seulement les huîtres qu'elle n'a pas pu manger, mais aussi le foie gras, le steak tartare, le vin...oui encore un de ses fameux plans.
Maman a un bébé dans le ventre. Cool uh?! C'est le bébé pour Liv. Je l'ai demandé au père Noël pour Noël (évidement) mais il a un peu cafouillé sur les dates. Maman dit que le bébé sera prêt pour août.
Suivant le moment de la journée je préfère un frère ou une sœur mais apparemment je ne peux pas choisir et se sera la surprise.
Maman dit que c'est le bébé de papa & maman...il semblerait que papa ai eu un rôle à jouer la dedans? Je ne suis pas du tout d'accord. "C'est bébé pour Liv"

My Christmas Adventures

Hi all!

It is about time I come back and tell you everything about my Christmas Adventures before I have forgotten it all.
It was still 2010 and snow storm was raging all over Europe. This is the time we decided to drive 1000 km to Brittany to spend christmas with the French family. I tell you, what a timing. it only took us 2 long days to get there. And guess what? I am car sick. urrghh....
But it was worth it. When we arrived in Brittany, there was NO snow, NO rain, and it was even warm. While in Holland, there was 40 cm of snow and it was -15C.
Mamie, Papi, Papi Yves, Nathalie, Damien, Tonton Jean, Tonton Jacques, Tata Martine, Tonton Paul, Tonton Jacques-Antoine...wow, that is quite a few people.
The highlights?
Decorating the Christmas tree with papi. We went a little wild there with colors and lights and it think it looked great!
Santa has somehow the same style as Sintaklass. You need to put your shoes next to the tree, then you disappear for a few seconds and your hear his voice. By the time you run back down, he is gone and there are tons of presents. How does he know when it is the time to come? I am intrigued.
I did get my guitar! Super cool books; Mum and I read them every night. A backpack, a picknic set, a drawing board...I need a bigger bedroom, or I need to learn to organise it all.
Eating lots of exciting food! Well, mum got a bit screwed up there but we will come back to that later.

It is a shame papi decided to get sick. Terrible flu. We had planned to spend new year eve and then go, but considering the flu was getting epidemic we decided to go earlier and left on the 31st. Yes, so we did spend new year eve just the three of us in a hotel. Since we were super organised (as always) we could not find a restaurant to eat (all fully booked) and therefore ended up eating a Mc Donald. My first! Well, the way mummy looks at it is "we did something really unusual for new year's eve 2010 and we definitely wont forget it!"

So did I enjoy my Christmas Adventures? Yes!
Next time I go by plane though!

Il est temps que vous raconte mes aventures de Noel avant que j'ai tout oublié.
Nous étions encore en 2010 et la tempête de neige faisait rage sur toute l'Europe. Quel meilleur moment pour conduire les 1000 km qui mènent en Bretagne? Franchement, on aurait pas pu mieux choisir. Ca nous a seulement pris 2 jours. Et pour couronner le tout, je suis malade en voiture. uurgghh...
Mais ça valait vraiment la peine. Lorsque nous sommes arrivés en Bretagne il n'y avait pas de neige, pas de pluie, et il faisait presque chaud. Alors qu'aux Pays-Bas il y avait 40 cm de neige et il faisait -15C.
Mamie, Papi, Papi Yves, Nathalie, Damien, Tonton Jean, Tonton Jacques, Tata Martine, Tonton Paul, Tonton Jacques-Antoine... Ca en fait du monde mine de rien.
Les grands moments?
La décoration du sapin de Noël avec Papi. On s'est un peu lâché sur les couleurs et les lumières et franchement il était super! Bien que pour quelques personnes c'était un peu trop "arbre de Noël" si vous voyez ce que je veux dire.
Le père Noël a un peu le même style que Saint Nicolas. Il faut lui mettre les chaussures sous le sapin. Vous tournez le dos pour quelques minutes et la, vous entendez sa voix. Vous courrez comme une folle dans les escaliers, il est parti et il y a plein de cadeaux. Comment sait-il que c'est le moment? Ca m'intrigue.
J'ai eu ma guitare! Des livres supers cool; avec maman on les lit tous les soirs. Un sac à dos, un set de pique-nique, un chevalet...j'ai besoin d'une chambre plus grande ou bien il va falloir que j'apprenne à être plus organisée.
J'ai mangée plein de bonnes choses. Sur ce coup la, maman c'est faite un peu avoir mais je vous en parlerais plus tard.

C'est bien dommage que papi ai décidé d'attraper la grippe. Et puis carabinée cette grippe. On avais prévu de passer le réveillon du premier de l'an en famille et de rentrer le lendemain, mais avec l'épidémie de grippe qui se déclarait on a changé nos plans et nous voila sur la route le 31. Oui, nous avons passé le réveillon 2010 tous les trois dans un hôtel. Et vu notre organisation sans faille nous n'avons bien entendu pas trouvé de place dans un restaurant. Nous voici donc au MacDonald. Ma première fois! Comme dit maman, "au moins nous avons fait quelque chose de vraiment différent pour le réveillon 2010 et nous ne sommes pas prêts de l'oublier" .

Es-ce que j'ai passée de bonne fêtes? OUI!
Par contre la prochaine fois on prend l'avion.

I am obsessed with scissors and cutting everything that comes by. I have my own scissors. They are not super sharp but I doubt I will get a new pair any time soon.
Since I have figured out how they work I try my skill on everything. Paper, books, my Panda, mummy's hair...
Talking about hairs...I had my first hair cut!
Appointment was made at the hairdresser. We arrive and...drama! I freaked out and refused to even sit on the chair. Cutting bits of me? Are you mad? You should see when mummy tries to cut my nails; or should I say hear?
Anyway, we got back home, mummy got out her sharp scissors and "snip snip" she sneakily cut a few bits that she put in front of me on the table. "see? it is not so bad.". Wow, she is right. And this is how I got my first hair cut and liked it.
Word of device: do not fall asleep on the sofa when I am around...

J'ai une obsession pour les ciseaux et je coupe tout ce qui me tombe sous la main. J'ai mes propre ciseaux, qui ne sont pas super affûtés d'ailleurs mais j'ai bien peur que ce ne soit pas de sitôt que j'ai une nouvelle paire.
Depuis que j'ai saisi le fonctionnement de cet outil merveilleux je m'exerce sur tout; papier, livres, mon Panda, les cheveux de maman...Tiens en parlant de cheveux, laissez-moi vous raconter ma première coupe.
Rendez-vous chez le coiffeur. On arrive et la...le drame. Panique et refus total de coopérer. Me couper des bouts? Êtes-vous fous? Vous devriez voir quand maman essaye de me couper les ongles; ou devrais-je dire "vous devriez entendre"?
Nous voici donc de retour à la maison, maman sort ses ciseaux et "clip clip" elle me coupe quelques mèches en douce qu'elle pose ensuite sur la table devant moi. "Dis moi, as-tu senti quelque chose?" En effet, rien. Et c'est comme ca que ma première coupe c'est passée.
Un petit conseil d'ami: ne vous endormez pas sur le canapé lorsque je suis dans les parages...

Dance, dance dance

My Dancing adventure

Once upon a time my parents decided I should take dance class. So i did. I went once and it was fun; mummy was around and I felt comfortable dancing with imaginary butterflies and balloons. After such a great experience we went to buy PINK outfit for my dance lessons.
The second time was not so fun. Mum left and even though I like to butterflies and balloons...well, I was not very happy.
Third time was...hum...well, it was short. Mummy brought me in, dressed me and then she tried to leave. And I remember from the week before i wasn't happy when she left so I took the necessary measures to be sure she would stay: I screamed and cried to the top of my lungs non-stop! It took the teacher 30 sec to get me out of class, throw me in mummy's arms and say "cannot".
A few hours later, the teacher called and said I loved my parents too much to continue the dance class. Yes, too much love is a reason nowadays to be kicked out of class.
And this was the end of dancing lessons.

Un jour mes parents décidèrent de m'inscrire à des cours de danse.
La première fois que j'y suis allée c'était génial; maman était la, j'étais super à l'aise à danser avec des papillons et des ballons imaginaires. Suite à cette experience extraordinaire, nous voici en mission dans les magasins pour acheter la panoplie complète et en ROSE de la petite danseuse.
La deuxième leçon fut beaucoup moins drôle. Maman réussi à s'éclipser rapidement et bien que j'aime les papillons et ballons imaginaires ca m'a beaucoup moins plu.
La troisième fois...et bien elle fut très brève. Maman m'amena, me changea puis tenta de s'éclipser. Comme j'ai une bonne mémoire, je me souvenais très bien de la fois précédente ou je n'étais pas super heureuse de me retrouver sans elle, j'ai pris les mesures nécessaires que ca ne se reproduise pas: j'ai crié et pleuré à tue-tête et sans arrêt! Ca a pris 30 sec pour que la prof me sorte de la classe et me jete dans les bras de maman en disant "c'est pas possible!".
Quelques heures plus tard la prof téléphone à mes parents pour leur dire que je les aime trop pour continuer les lecons. Et oui, de nos jours trop d'amour est une raison plausible pour se faire virer de classe.
Et ce fut donc la fin de mes leçons de danse.

SinterKlaas is back

So, here is the story:
Sinterklaas and his Black Pete usually carry a bag which contains candy for nice children and a roe, a chimney sweep's broom made of willow branches, used to spank naughty children. Some of the older Sinterklaas songs make mention of naughty children being put in the bag and being taken back to Spain. Brrrr....

Traditionally, in the weeks between his arrival and 5 December, before going to bed, children put their shoes next to the fireplace chimney of the coal-fired stove or fireplace. In modern times, they may put them next to the central heating unit. They leave the shoe with a carrot or some hay in it and a bowl of water nearby "for Sinterklaas' horse," and the children sing a Sinterklaas song. The next day they will find some candy or a small present in their shoes.

Alors, voici l'histoire:
Saint Nicolas est accompagné du père fouettard qui porte un sac rempli de bonbons pour les enfants sages et un balai fait de brindilles de saule pleureur, pour donner des fessées aux enfants pas sages. Les vieilles chansons de Saint Nicolas racontent que le père Fouettard mettaient les petits enfants pas sages dans son sac et les emmenait en Espagne. Brrrrr...

Traditionnellement dans les semaines entre son arrivée et le 5 décembre, avant de se coucher les petits enfants mettent leur chaussures à coté de la cheminée avec une carotte pour le cheval de Saint Nicolas, ou un dessin et ils chantent une chanson. Au matin, il y a un bonbon voire un petit cadeau.

We are in November and I planted my tomatoes. Yes, I did not do ANY background research at all. But look they seem pretty happy.
The big question is : where am I going to put them now?

Mama on the other hand (even though she can be helpless when it comes to changing the water from the vases) has done her little research before buying her Orchid and I must say, it is looking 'blooming".

How cool, she has her own slide at home?! Well, not her own anymore, she is gonna have to share it with her sister who just arrived.

A week in France - A few images

Our tour in France went so fast I cant believe we are back in Amsterdam already.

Who ever said it always rain in Brittany? We had sunshine everyday for a week. I am not kidding you.

Playing music, building sand castle on the beach, picking up apples from the garden, baking cakes, running around naked in the garden, falling into the river, crayoning all over the bedsheets and driving papi crazy were just a few on my numerous activities.

Notre tour de France est passé super vite et je n’arrive pas à croire que nous sommes déjà de retour a Amsterdam.

Qui a dit qu’il pleut tout le temps en Bretagne? Je vous assure que nous avons eu du soleil tout le temps. Si, si.

Jouer de la musique, construire des châteaux de sable, ramasser les pommes du verger, faire des gâteaux, courir toute nue dans le jardin, tomber dans la rivière, remplir le lit de crayon feutre et faire tourner mon papi en bourrique étaient juste quelques unes de mes nombreuses activités de la semaine.

SAIL Amsterdam is a large maritime event held every five years in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Tall ships from all over the world visit the city to moor in its Eastern harbour, and people can then visit the ships for four days.

The event was organised for the first time in 1975 to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Amsterdam, under the name 'Sail Amsterdam 700'. At that time, interest in tall ships, which had sunk to a low since the 1930s when the last commercial tall ships had been built, was starting to rise. The success of Sail Amsterdam 700 led to the establishment of the Stichting Sail Amsterdam (SSA, Foundation Sail Amsterdam).

Sail is one of the largest maritime manifestations in the world, and the largest event of any kind in the Netherlands. Tens of tall ships and hundreds of other historical ships are involved. Numerous other ships and boats are present besides the participating ships, amounting to 8000 boats in the 2000 edition.

Lesser events take place during the festival, involving small sailboats, sailor choirs or re-enactments of naval battles. The Sail In or Parade of Sail on the first day attracts many other small ships, including creations like a sailing organ (with trumpet accompaniment) or a train converted to a ship. On the next to last day there is a naval pageant and on the last day the 'Sail Out'.

The next Sail Amsterdam will be held from 20 August to 24 August 2015.
In France, a similar event takes place every 4 years in Brest. Brest 2012 will take place from 13th of July with the goal of becoming "Universal Exhibition of the Sea".

Tous les 5 ans, SAIL Amsterdam accueille la grande fête internationale de la mer, des bateaux et des marins. Des navires immenses venant de tous les coins du monde jettent l'ancre dans le port Est, et les nombreux visiteurs peuvent se rendre a bord.

La première édition, "Sail Amsterdam 700", pris place en 1975, pour célébrer les 700 ans D'Amsterdam. Dès ce moment un regain d'intérêt pour les vieux gréements repris. Le succès de Sail Amsterdam 700 amena la création de la fondation de Stichting Sail Amsterdam (SSA, Foundation Sail Amsterdam).

Weekend in rainy English countryside

We finally took a little time off cheese country and flew over the Channel to meet our friends Dawn & Kevin.
Destination: Worcester, next to Birmingham, at the border of Wales, in beautiful countryside. Weather-wise, forget it; rain, rain and more rain. Ok, let’s be honest, there was one afternoon of sunshine: the day we left!
But you know me, jumping in the puddles, running thru fountains and chasing dogs and chickens with a water hose, I had a blast.
For the little story, while visiting Ludlow, we decided to stop for a coffee and a little bite. Kev, mum and I sat on nice sofas while Dawn and dad were getting the drinks. I did charm this old Englishman across the table and he engaged the conversation by saying to Kev “ I take it you are the grand-pa, right?”. Oups! So I found a 3rd grand-pa.

The highlight for me was to finally meet “Tess”, the horse. Dawn & Kev do fox hunting. Everyone has been telling me about her for weeks. Even mum did pet her and if you know mum, you will know she is terrified of horses. Well, I am too small to ride but it looks fun! Papa? Can I have a horse? And chickens? And a dog? Pleaaazzzzzz!

Ok, for the dog...well one bite me...but after rocky beginnings we became best friends.

Nous avons enfin décidé de prendre quelques jours de vacances et de quitter le pays du fromage pour voir nos amis Dawn & Kevin, de l’autre coté de la Manche. Destination Worcester à coté de Birmingham, à la frontière du Pays de Galles en pleine campagne. Cote météo c’était la cata...il a plu, et plu et plu. Bon, nous avons quand même eu une demie journée de soleil : le jour ou nous sommes partis! Mais vous me connaissez, je saute dans les flaques d’eau, je cours dans les fontaines, je chasse chiens, poulets et autres animaux de basse-cours avec mon tuyau d’arrosage, je me suis éclatée comme une folle. Pour la petite anecdote, alors que nous visitions la ville de Ludlow nous nous sommes arrêtés pour un café et alors que Dawn et papa passaient commande, Kev maman et moi nous sommes installés dans les canapés en face d’un couple de retraités. En quelques minutes je vous ai charmé ce monsieur qui commence la conversation avec Kev par “c’est une bien jolie petite fille que vous avez-la!”. Oups. J’ai trouvé un 3eme grand-pa. Le plus mémorable c’était “Tess”, le cheval. Dawn et Kev font de la chasse à cour. Ça fait des semaines que tout le monde m’en parle. Même maman lui a fait des caresses et si vous connaissez maman vous savez qu’elle est terrifiée par les chevaux. Dommage que je sois trop petite pour monter car ca a l’air génial! Papa? Est-ce que je peux avoir un cheval? Et des poulets? Et un chien? S’il te plaaaaaait!

Bon pour le chien...il m'a mordu le coquin...mais après des débuts chaotiques nous sommes devenus super potes.

Yes, it is the Mondial and Holland is doing well. we will not talk about the French...at least not this year.
Amsterdam has been besides itself for the last few weeks and right now temperature is rising!
But I am not a big fan and I have been fairly busy with all kinds of other very exciting moments.
First, I got chickenpox; thanks to my friend Pablo (I call him Plablo, it sounds better). Marks are quite something and I hope they will eventually go away.
Still Plablo. It was its birthday on the 26th and we all had a big party will Hart and Hannah.
Big milestone - I am potty trained! All by myself, no pressure. A chocomel after a wee and that is all it took. I was done in 4 days. Wee and poo. Funny how the parents are so excited and happy about this kind of stuff. Well, if they are happy I get Chocomel, then I am happy, so everyone is happy! Hehe!
Oh, did I forget to mention?! It was Papa's Birthday too! Big day shopping to find the perfect gifts anf homemade cakes. Since we have a nice oven mama is going wild : NY cheesecake, muffins, apple tart, strawberry tart, apple cake....slurp!

Oui, c'est la coupe du monde de Football et la Hollande se débrouille vraiment pas mal. Ne parlons de la France...du moins pas cette année.
Amsterdam est surexcitée depuis plusieurs semaines. La tension monte!

Mais bon, je suis pas fan et puis il y a quand même des choses plus intéressantes qui se passent.
Je viens d'avoir la varicelle; un grand merci à mon copain Pablo(je l'appelle Plablo, ca sonne mieux). Les cicatrices sont pas trop sympa et j'espère qu'elles vont partir vite.

Toujours Plablo - Petite fête d'anniversaire le 26th avec les copains Hart et Hannah.
Grand pas - Le pot! et oui, fini les couches et je me suis décidée toute seule, pas de pression. Un chocomel après un pipi dans le pot et voila! C'était réglé en 4 jours. Pipi et poupou. C'est marrant, les parents sont contents comme tout. Ils sont contents, ils me donnent un chocomel, je suis contente, bref, que du bonheur. Hehe!

Oh, j'ai oublie?! c'était aussi l'anniversaire de Papa. Grande journée shopping pour lui trouver des cadeaux et maman en plein délire à lui faire des gâteaux. Oui, nous avons maintenant un four : NY Cheesecake, tarte aux pommes, tarte aux fraises, muffins, gâteau aux pommes...miam!

Weekend with Mamie et Papi

Mamie & papi were visiting last weekend! A great chance for me to practice my french and impress them!

We had a pretty busy time doing tourist things. We went shopping! a must, but SO tiring! I am not too keen on that activity. Long walk along the canals. It was very sunny; the canals and the terraces were full.

We went to Artis (the zoo). Really it was more for the grand-parents, I go there every week with my friends from the creche. I love the monkeys and so do mamie & papi. Mama somehow likes the butterfly area. I must say it is quite nice. They are all flying free in a huge greenhouse. I guess you should go and see it all for yourself. It is a pretty cool place.

I have been trying to teach mamie how to do puzzles (I myself am a big addict) but I must say she did pretty poorly, even with a 10 pieces. On the other hand she taught me how to blow soap bubbles; i used to put it all in my mouth and blow and yes, surprise, it did not work.

The big highlight of the weekend is my blue bicycle. Once upon a time I did freak out just at the sight of it. Thank God, these days are now far away and now I would take it in my bed if only mama would let me. I bicycle everywhere. in or out, with a preference for outside since there is more space!

Mamie & papi sont venus nous rendre visite le weekend dernier! Une super chance pour moi pour pratiquer mon français et leur en mettre plein les yeux!

Nous n'avons pas arrêté une seconde. Pour commencer, shopping! Sympa mais SUPER fatiguant. C'est pas ma tasse de thé. Une longue marche le long des canaux. Le temps était formidable; les canaux et les terrasses étaient bondées.

Nous sommes également allés à Artis (le zoo). C'était plutôt pour les grand-parents. Moi je connais, j'y vais toutes les semaines avec mes copains de la crèche. Mes préférés sont les singes et mamie et papi et papi les ont trouvé super aussi. Maman elle préfère plutôt le coin papillons. C'est vrai que c'est sympa car ils sont tous en liberté dans une grande serre. Je vous recommande la visite. c'est vraiment un endroit chouette.

J'ai tenté d'apprendre à mamie à faire des puzzles (parce que moi j'adore ca) mais je dois dire qu'elle ne se débrouille pas terrible, même avec un 10 pièces. Par contre elle m'a appris à faire des bulles de savon et ca c'est génial. Avant je mettais tout le truc dans ma bouche et je soufflais, et oui, surprise, ca ne fonctionnais pas.

Le grand moment du weekend c'était ma bicyclette bleue. Fut un temps, rien qu'à la vue de mon vélo c'était la crise et je refusais à grand cris de monter dessus. Heureusement, ceci est une époque révolue et maintenant je veux ma bicyclette bleue tout le temps. Si maman me laissait , je dormirais avec. Je fais du vélo partout; dedans, dehors avec quand même une préférence pour les grands espaces extérieurs!

Sur ce, j'y retourne!

Queen's Day

This is 1 year ago already we moved to Amsterdam. Time flies by.
This weekend was Queen's Day and in the Dutch tradition, we left the house at 10h (under the rain) and shopped (under the rain) thru all the brick-a-brack everyone is selling on the street looking for treasures. I went into the "Big Wheel" (finally not under the rain) and I got the crown! I love parties!

Cela fait déjà 1 an que nous nous sommes installés à Amsterdam. Que le temps passe vite.
Ce weekend c'était Queen's Day et dans la tradition Néerlandaise nous avons quitté la maison à 10h (sous la pluie) pour faire le tour (sous la pluie) des puces et chercher la perle rare. Je suis allée dans la "Grande Roue" (la pluie c'était enfin arrêtée) et c'est moi qui porte la couronne!
J'adore les fêtes!

An irregular pick up from the Creche

Usually it is either mama or papa picking me up from the creche...So last week was a treat when they both came and with Oma too! I like days like those, because we then go for a nice drink with snack on a sunny terrace. Spring is back!

En général c'est soit maman ou papa qui me récupère à la crèche...alors la semaine dernière c'était la surprise de les voir tous les deux avec Oma! J'aime les jours comme ca ou on va ensuite boire un verre (plus snacks) sur une terrasse ensoleillée. Le printemps est de retour!

Fate has its ways and it is sometimes doing its utmost to make things absolutely unreal.
15th of April 2010, my great-grandma passed away. She is the mummy of my mamie, from my mama's side. Of course mama wanted to go the funeral on friday morning. As fate will have it, as she was boarding the plane, airports were closing due to the "ash cloud" covering Europe. (do we need to add the trains were on strike?). It was (and it is still is) real chaos out there and thousands of people are "stuck".
Since we could not make it to pay our respects, we decided to put a few photos on my Blog and we just want to say we love you very very much Great Grandma! Rest in peace. Lots of Love from the three of us in Amsterdam.

Le destin a des voies bien mystérieuses parfois; c'est à croire qu'il le fait exprès.
le 15 Avril 2010, mon arrière grand-mère est décédée. Elle est la maman de ma mamie, du cote de ma maman. Bien sur ,maman voulait aller aux funérailles qui ont eu lieu vendredi matin. Le sort fera qu'au moment ou elle embarquait dans l'avion, les aéroports ont fermées du à un nuage de cendres qui couvre toute l'Europe. (faut il ajouter que les trains étaient aussi en grève?). C'était (c'est toujours) le chaos total, et des milliers de personnes sont complètement bloquées.

Étant donné que nous n'avons pas pu nous rendre aux obsèques, nous souhaitons mettre quelques photos de Mamie Yvonne sur mon Blog et de lui dire qu'on l'aime très très fort. Repose en paix. Plein d'amour de nous trois depuis Amsterdam.

I was sick (again). It is apparently because of the creche. We all love each other and we share everything, germs included! Oma is always ready to come over and look after me...She is truly the best babysitter! She reads great stories and I can even sleep in her bed.

Encore malade. Apparemment c'est à cause de la crèche. Nous y partageons tout, même les microbes! Oma est toujours prête à venir pour s'occuper de moi...elle est la meilleure babysitteur! Elle me lit des supers histoires et je peux même dormir dans son lit.

As I was telling you earlier, it snows and snows and snows. It has been like this since the 20th of December and the novelty is starting to wear off. At least the days are finally getting longer and it is still daylight when mama picks me up from the creche after work. However, our Sundays are still restricted to 'inside' and I am getting bored.
Comme je vous le disais il n'y a pas longtemps, de la neige, de la neige et encore de la neige. C'est comme cela depuis le 20 décembre et ca commence à faire long. Heureusement que les jours commencent enfin à rallonger et il fait même encore jour lorsque maman vient me chercher à la crèche après le travail. Cependant, les dimanches nous sommes toujours confinés à l'intérieur et je commence à m'ennuyer.

Winter, snow, cold...yes, options are limited for little balls of energy like us. In Amsterdam, they transformed an old metro station into a playground for kids and it is FUN! And it is called TunFun! I love it. The photos here are not really showing the place but it is BIG, loads of slides and things to climb on, to throw, to go under, to hang from...Wow!
We went there last weekend with Iddris, he is bit younger than I but he is cool!
Hiver, neige, froid...et oui, les options sont limitées pour des boules de nerfs comme nous. A Amsterdam, ils ont transformés une vieille station de métro en énorme terrain de jeux pour enfants et c'est super génial! Ça s'appelle TunFun! J'adore! Les photos ne montrent pas trop l'endroit, mais c'est grand et il y a plein de toboggans, des blocs pour grimper dessus, des balles de toutes tailles à lancer, des trucs pour se glisser dessous, des balançoires...Wow!
Nous y sommes allés dimanche dernier avec Iddris; c'est un petit jeune mais il est cool!

Hello all!
We are slacking here big time. Well! my secretary is slacking, I am just fine.
We are still under the snow and the canals are still frozen. "nog een neige. Wow, c'est beau".
Because we are forced to spending so much time inside I play a lot with my dolls and put them to sleep all wrapped warmly in blankets. I then go around and tell everyone to be quiet: "shhhhh, baby dodo".
I am discovering the beauty of talking versus crying. If I say "papa, nog een jus" he gets it straight away and I get my juice. It works the same with "nog een cracker", "nog een milk". I am using "nog een" and "nee" constantly. "Nee" is my standard answer to everything.
Now I learned a new word that make mama and papa really happy: "papa, mama, t' aime". If I do something wrong, it is the magic sentence.
I also learned to be polite and I (almost) always say "merci" and when I leave I always say "dag" or "au revoir" depending on my mood.
As you all know I love food so it was only a matter of time before I discover the joys of cooking.
Mum and I are spending a fair time in the kitchen and she is giving me loads of responsibilities like washing the veggies (and myself, and the all kitchen) and putting things in pots, storing things in the fridge. I am discovering new smells and tastes. I get to smell everything mum cuts; garlic, onions (I cry), chillies, tomatoes etc.... I especially like the smell of freshly cut lemongrass and the taste of Spicy Basil.
The fun part is when we cut veggies on the wooden board. Mum gets to do the 'chop, chop chop' with her beautiful knife. But see what I have to work with?!

On flemmarde, on flemmarde, c'est terrible. Bon, c'est surtout ma secrétaire qui flemme, moi ça va, j'ai la pêche.
Nous sommes toujours sous la neige et les canaux sont toujours gelés. "nog een neige. Wow, c'est beau".
Depuis que nous sommes plus ou moins forcés de rester jouer à l'intérieur, je joue beaucoup avec mes poupées et je les emitoufflent bien avant de les mettre au lit puis je dis à tout le monde "shhhhhh, baby dodo".
Je découvre les charmes et les avantages de la parole versus les pleurs. Si je dis "papa, nog een jus" il comprend tout de suite et j'ai mon jus de fruit dans la minute. Et ça marche aussi bien avec "nog een cracker", "nog een milk". Je sers "nog een" et "nee" à toutes les sauces. "Nee" est ma réponse automatique à tout.
J'ai appris un nouveau mot que maman et papa adorent : "papa, mama, t'aime". Si je fais une bêtise, c'est la phrase magique.
J'apprends également la politesse et je dis (presque) toujours "merci" et quand je m'en vais "Dag" ou "au revoir" suivant mon humeur.
Vous êtes tous familiers avec mon appétit sans fin et c'est donc sans surprise que je vous annonce ma découverte des joies de la cuisine.
Avec maman, nous passons beaucoup de temps dans la cuisine et j'ai même des responsabilités maintenant: laver les légumes (et moi, et la cuisine), mettre les ingrédients dans les casseroles ou dans le frigidaire. Je découvre pleins de nouvelles odeurs et de nouveaux gouts. Je sens tout ce que maman coupe; ail, oignons (je pleure), piments, tomates, etc.....j'aime particulièrement l'odeur de la citronnelle fraichement coupée et le gout du basilic.
Le plus rigolo, c'est lorsque maman coupe les légumes sur la planche de bois. Elle fait "chop chop chop" avec son beau couteau. Et voyez ce que moi j'ai pour travailler?!

Amsterdam is under the snow since the beginning of the year and the canals are frozen, however the ice is not thick enough yet to go skating. It is really nice.
Amsterdam est sous la neige depuis le début de l'année et les canaux sont complètement gelés, cependant la couche de glace n'est pas encore assez épaisse pour faire du patin. C'est vraiment super beau!

Mama and I started a year by going to the emergency room. For those who are familiar with Amsterdam stairs you will fully appreciate the scene if I tell you we (she was carrying me) missed the first step and slided the full flight; 12 steps. She did her best to protect me and I came out unscattered. She, on the other hand banged her head against the corner in the wall...blood was pouring out like crazy...It ended out with a few stitches and a black eye. We got very lucky.

Maman et moi avons commencé l'année en passant par les Urgences. Pour ceux qui connaissent les escaliers Amsterdamiens, imaginez la scène: nous avons manqué la première marche et nous avons dégringolé tout l'escalier (12 marches). Maman a fait tout son possible pour me protéger et je m'en suis sortie sans une égratignure . Par contre, elle s'est cognée la tête très fort contre le mur...elle avait du sang plein le visage...heureusement, il y a eu plus de peur que de mal. L'arcade ouverte, quelques points de suture et un oeil au beurre noir. Ouf!

The Circus - Le Cirque

Oh, an elephant...it was a long time ago...Oh, un elephant...cela faisait longtemps...

I must say, I have been pretty unlucky those few weeks as I have been sick a few times already. So far it had been fine as I could stay home and Mum did no go to work to be my personal nurse. However, being sick on your birthday is a drag. The party was cancelled...yes...very disappointing. The highlight of the day was Opa coming over just for me with my favorite gift: Duplos! And not just any Duplos but THE CIRCUS! Wow! Mum and Dad tried to match that up with a Dollhouse...Uncle Yorrick on the other hand had something really interesting: a 'smart game' but I am still too sick to really put too much effort into it yet.
Ok, lets be fair things got better as the day went and I eventually warmed up to everyone and had fun. Opa is a great play companion and it is a shame we do not see each other too often.

Je dois avouer que je n'ai pas eu trop de chance ces dernières semaines car cela fait plusieurs fois que je tombe malade. Le truc sympa c'est que lorsque je suis malade, maman reste à la maison pour s'occuper de moi. Cependant, être malade lors de son anniversaire, c'est pas cool du tout. Nous avons du annuler la fête...dur, dur. J'étais super déçue. Heureusement, Opa est quand même venu pour me donner mon cadeau: des Duplos. Et attention, pas n'importe lesquels: Le Cirque de Duplos! Maman et papa ont tenté d'égaler ça avec une maison de poupée...ouais, bof. Tonton Yorrick par contre avait un cadeau très intéressant: un 'Jeu Intelligent'. Je suis par contre trop malade pour me concentrer pour le moment. Je vous montrerais plus tard.
Mais soyons juste, les choses se sont améliorées au fur et à mesure de la journée et je me suis bien amusée avec Opa.

So...what is November all about in Holland? St Nicolas is the BIG thing of november in Holland. Mum and I were I bit surprised; Our first St Nicolas...You see, it starts beginning of November: He arrives in Holland (We were there under pouring rain when he showed up on his boat with all his Petes.) ....tours the country....and.....brings us all GIFTS!!!! He is quite a nice a guy and I got the chance to exchanged a few words with him.
Alors, que se passe-t-il d'intéressant aux Pays-Bas en Novembre? St Nicolas est le Héro du mois. Maman et moi étions un peu surprises; notre premier St Nicolas. Ca commence début Novembre: Il arrive en Hollande sur son bateau avec ses aides "Zwarte Pete" (d'ailleurs cette année il a mal choisi son jour, il pleuvait des cordes. J'en suis tombée malade) et ils font le tour des Pays-Bas pour nous donner à tous pleins de cadeaux. Il est plutôt sympa et nous avons même eu l'occasion de discuter un peu.

Every night mum's reads me these stories full fairies, dragons, golden balls, frogs, dwarfs, giants and many many more magical creatures. A few weeks ago, when my friend Luna was visiting from Bali we discovered their secret world! They live in Enkhuizen, in North Holland.

Tous les soirs, maman me lit des histoires remplies de fées, de dragons, de balles dorées, de crapauds, de nains, de géants et pleins d'autres créatures magiques. The 'HUNT ' Part II

This weekend again off we went all over the city looking for beautiful elephants. We thought there were 100 but as it is turning out there are more. And mama is determined to get them all, with me in the picture. Honestly I am feed up with it, as you can clearly see in some of the photos. Mum actually had to negociate with me.

‘go and sit there and you will have a cookie’.

‘Ok mama, one shot, a cookie. If you want a second shot, it will be another cookie.’

In the end she got me because she was only giving me the tinniest piece of cookie everytime.

And to make it perfect we got absolutely soaked while bicycling home. Yes, the weather is fantastic in Amsterdam right now.

So get ready for more next weekend...

De nouveau ce weekend nous avons parcouru la ville en long et en large à la recherche des éléphants. Nous pensions qu’ils étaient 100 mais c’est faux, ils sont plus nombreux. Et maman est déterminée à les prendre tous en photos avec moi. Franchement ca me fatigue, comme vous pouvez clairement le voir sur certaines photos. Maman à du negocier avec moi.

“Va t’assoir la bas ma puce et je te donne un bout de gateau.”

“D’accord. une photo, un bout de gâteau. Si tu veux une deuxième photo c’est un gâteau en plus” .

Mais finalement je me suis faite avoir car elle me donnait toujours un morceau de gâteau ridiculement petit.

Et pour couronner le tout, nous nous sommes faites trempées jusqu’aux os en rentrant. Le temps est formidable en ce moment à Amsterdam.

August in Amsterdam

Hello everyone! It has been a while...August was full of visitors!
Oma came a few times to take care of me while mama & papa were working; Opa came at the same time as Mamie & Papi from France & I started the creche (kindergarten). Yes, I am now going there 4 days a week and it is...hum...different. I am not sure if I like it yet. Every morning is a drama when papa or mama leave me there and I roll myself on the floor and scream and cry!
I have learned this is a great thing to do to get what I want. I am using and abusing it but it is not going down very well with the parents.
Bonjour à tous! Cela fait un petit moment...Nous avons eu plein de visiteurs en Aout!
Oma est venue plusieurs fois pour s'occuper de moi pendant que maman et papa travaillaient; Opa est venu au même moment que mamie & papi et j'ai commencé à aller à la crèche. Oui, j'y vais 4 jours par semaine et c'est...bon...différent. Je ne suis pas encore sure si ça me plait. Tous les matins c'est le drame quand maman ou papa me laissent la-bas et je me roule par terre en criant et pleurant! J'ai appris que c'était un bon truc à faire pour arriver à mes fins. J'en use et en abuse et ca ne se passe pas toujours bien avec les parents.

My first picnic. We went by car by the seaside and we all know now I get car sick. It was terrible. The picnic was great though and I could refill before being sick again on the way back. Mon premier pic-nique. Nous sommes allés par voiture au bord de la mer et c'est officiel, je suis malade en voiture. C'était terrible. Par contre le pic-nique c'était super chouette et j'ai pu me refaire une santé avant d'attaquer le chemin du retour et d'être malade encore une fois.

Old friends (from my parents) from their previous life when they were still young and beautiful, teaching scuba diving to travelers. That must have been about 5 / 6 years ago already...time flies. It was nice to meet again!

GAY PRIDE "La vie en rose"

This weekend was the Gay Pride in Amsterdam. A drag Queen gave me ballons (if you are like me and have no idea what a drag queen is, it is a man wearing woman clothes, high heels and LOADS of make up). Everyone is wearing pink and I like that. Good choice of colors guys! Music was pumping and everyone was dancing in the streets / canals...wow! What a party!

Ce weekend c'était la Gay Pride à Amsterdam. une Drag Queen m'a donné des ballons (si vous êtes comme moi et vous ne savez pas ce que c'est, c'est un homme qui s'habille en femme, porte des talons aiguilles et ÉNORMÉMENT de maquillage). Tout le monde portait du rose et j'aime ça. Bon choix de couleur les garçons! La musique à fond les manettes et tout le monde dansant dans les rues et sur les canaux....wow! Quelle fête!

This is me taking Bart for his walk. We are looking after him for two weeks while his family is taking a little vacation. La, c'est moi avec Bart. Nous nous occupons de lui pendant que sa famille est en vacances.

Then she passes out on my shoulder. She started 'work' so she is usually tired when she gets home at night as you can see. Puis elle s'endors sur mon épaule. Elle vient de recommencer à travailler et elle est très fatiguée lorsqu'elle rentre le soir, comme vous pouvez le constater.

BBQ at "The Welsch Residence". Senna & Daan were the best babysitter I had until now! BBQ à "la Résidence Welsch". Senna & Daan sont les meilleurs babysitter que j'ai jamais eu!

Also this month...but no photos...My auntie Nathalie became a teacher! Yes, she got her CAPES. Congratulations! If you need a French, Latin and Ancien Greek teacher, she is the one. She and Damien came to Amsterdam for a super quick visit and hopefully they will come back soon.
Également ce mois...mais sans photos...ma tante Nathalie est devenu prof! Oui, elle a passé son CAPES. Félicitations! Si vous cherchez un prof de Français, Latin et Grec Ancien, faites lui appel. Elle et Damien sont venu pour une visite éclair à Amsterdam et j'espère qu'ils reviendrons bientôt!

Visit from Opa & Noelle

Another lazy Sunday lunch over coffee, strawberry tart, cherry tart (the famous kersenvlaai from Limburg), apple tart...yes, this is a lot isn't it? Everyone got cake without consulting each other...and it all ends up in my fridge! miam, miam!
Opa & Noelle are going to Friesland for a week and they stopped by to say hello and play a bit. See, my Opa is trying to eat my Duplos. Luckily I managed to stop him before he swallowed them!
Papa is recovering from the Lenny Kravitz concert he went to last night. I leave mummy to finish typing this and I am off to watch Winnie the Pooh. See ya!

Un dimanche midi tranquille; café, tarte aux fraises, tarte aux cerises (la fameuse kresenvlaai de Limburg), tarte aux pommes...oui, oui, ça fait beaucoup n'est-ce pas? C'est parce que chacun a acheté un gâteau sans consulter les autres. Du coup tout fini dans mon frigidaire! Miam, miam!
Opa & Noelle vont passer une semaine de vacances à Friesland et ils sont venus nous dire un petit bonjour et jouer avec moi en passant. Voyez mon Opa qui essaye de manger mes Duplos? Heureusement que j'ai réussi à les récupérer avant qu'il ne les avale!
Papa se remet du concert de Lenny Karvitz de hier soir. Je laisse maman finir d'écrire tout cela et je retourne regarder Winnie l'Ourson. A plus!

My special time with papa! Bicycling around Amsterdam! I love it, I love it, I love it!
Mummy finally got a bicycle her own size (she is not very tall) yesterday and I looking forward to go for a ride with her too. I wonder if she can do it as good as papa???
Mes moments avec mon papa (chéri, adoré de mon cœur)! Faire du vélo dans Amsterdam! J'adore, j'adore, j'adore!
Maman viens enfin de trouver un vélo à sa taille (elle n'est pas très grande) et j'attends avec impatience d'aller faire un tour avec elle. Je me demande si elle va pouvoir se débrouiller aussi bien que papa???
