Migration Time

Chinese New Year started on the 26th of January and it is definitely a big thing around here. I am really confused on how many "New Year" there are in a year. I want to follow everyone's tradition so here I am in my CNY outfit. Do you like it? Yes, it is very red and for those who do know, red is THE color. I like it!

But the biggest event of this "New Year" so far is our new migration: Europe. Yes, we are packing again. Mama puts stuff in boxes and I come behind and pull it all out. It is fun!
So Europe, be ready! Here I come! Mamie, papi, oma, opa and all the other ones I have not met yet I am so excited and happy to see you very very soon! I just got gloves, hat, jumper and jacket! I am ready for the cold! ...am I???

My first year's achievements

Over a year ago I made my entry into this world. I was 3.9kg, I couldn't walk, talk, crawl, play...I could barely breastfeed from mama. Yes, life was tough then. Since that day, I have learnt to sit, crawl, stand, walk, climb up and down (very ungracefully, mind you). I have gone from barely being able to breastfeed to being extremely good at it, to eating purees (yuck!) to actually eating everything (well almost). I went from having a very gummy smile to having 7 teeth, the last one came out about 2 weeks ago. I grew from a mere 3.9kg to a very healthy 11.5kg and I grew up from 53cm to 80cm. I have mastered the use of all my fingers and i can now pick up the smallest thing from the floor (and you will be amazed of what I can find). I went from crying my lungs out and being absolutely misunderstood to being able to say "papa", "mama", "oh oh", "bebe". "Bebe" stands for just about everything now, but I am working on expanding my vocabulary.I went from eating all my books to actually turning the pages myself and looking at the images (i still munch on the corners every now and then). I absolutely love books and I enjoy my bedtime stories very much. Mama usually reads it to me while I drink my bottle for milk. And fresh milk please...no more formula! (but... my favorite is still breastmilk, even though I am not getting much of it anymore now days). I love music and dancing. I am a very good dancer. I must be very entertaining because it usually makes people laugh. My favorite songs are "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Joli Tambour", "ABC Medley".
My favorite TV show is Sesame Street with Cookie Monster; we have it on DVD in Dutch and I will actually sit still for the 20min of the show on my cushion. I discovered "Kirikou" a few days ago and it is becoming a big favorite too.I used to hate having things on my head but lately I have changed my mind and I have grown quite fond of hats, caps, etc...actually I will put just about anything on my head. I still hate having my nails cut and I believe all the neighbors know it! I eat and drink everything I am given, as long as I am eating with everyone else; I like socializing! Eating by yourself is just soooo boring. I even had 'stroop' (thanks Opa Henk!) a few weeks ago...Yummy! My favorite game? Hide & Seek! The best part is when I give a very high pitch scream of delight and excitement, followed by a fit of giggles every time I am being found! I can go on and on and on... A year ago I just wanted to stay inside mama's belly. I was very grumpy by being pulled out of my comfortable and warm little haven and being thrown into a very bright world. It took me a while to adjust. But it has all been worth it so far and I am very much looking forward for a new year full of discoveries and fun things to do; It is only getting better and better! Jipeeeee!
